Short History of KIMEC. ✝️ KIMEC stands for The Methodist Church of King William’s Town, which was established on January 18, 1998. Here are some key points about the history of KIMEC for the members of the Confirmation Class. – The Church was formed by a group of people who wanted to create a new Methodist congregation in the KWT area. – KIMEC has 27 active societies in the area and is known for its vibrant worship services and community outreach programs. – The Church celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2023, marking a quarter century of faith, devotion, and praise. – KIMEC welcomes people from all walks of life, whether they are new to church, have been Christians for many years, or need a fresh start. – The Church was firstly led by Rev. M. Mgijima (1999) as its Superintendent, Rev. F. Buti (2000 to 2020), Bishop B.P. Skiet (2022 to date). – The Headquarters are in Sweetwaters. – The Church now boasts with more than 1000 congregants. – The Church is governed by the Church Board which seats on quarterly basis, Church Council which seats on monthly basis and Church Executive on weekly basis. – There are general meetings to govern the Organizations, Committees and Departments. – KIMEC is identified as the Caring Church. – In an event where members will not wear Church uniforms, all members are expected to wear black and white. – The Church believes in all Methodist doctrines as taught by Rev. John Wesley (MA). END
